Decathlon has named Elena Pecos as its new UK and Ireland chief executive, as the sports retailer combines the two territories under one leadership team.

Pecos, who most recently led the retailer’s Ireland business, takes over from Eric Mazillier, who has led the brand’s UK operations for the past six years.
She will be joined by Romain Gravigny, who assumes the role of chief operating officer for the UK and Ireland after a two-and-a-half-year stint as chief executive of its Australia business.
Both Pecos and Gravigny have spent almost two decades at the sports giant, holding numerous positions across its global operations.
Decathlon said the leadership changes come at a time of “renewed momentum” for its British and Irish division with sales in the first half of the year up 15% and 20%, respectively. It expects to deliver £398m (€460m) in sales for the regions in 2025.
Pecos said: “It’s an incredibly exciting moment for Decathlon in the UK and Ireland to come together, and it’s an honour to be leading the way.
“Together with Romain and our teams, we will build upon the great work Eric has delivered to produce a promising 2025, and continue to press ahead with our digital acceleration across the Decathlon UK and Ireland that has brought us closer to our customers and continues to make sport even more accessible to communities across both countries.”
Gravigny added: “With strong foundations already in place and ambitious growth plans ahead, it’s a privilege to take on the role of chief operating officer at Decathlon UK.
“Having been a part of the business for over 20 years, I understand the importance of keeping customers at the heart of everything we do and our transformation strategy in-store and online will continue to deliver on our promise of helping everyone discover the wonder of sports.”
