Asos has named the former chief executive of ITV, Royal Mail and the Football Association, Adam Crozier, as its new chairman.
Crozier will replace Brian McBride, who is retiring having spent the last six years as chairman of the fashion etailer.
The position marks the latest non-executive role taken on by Crozier since he left ITV last year.
Crozier is already chairman of hospitality group Whitbread, cinema operator Vue Entertainments, and theatre producer Stage Entertainment.
Crozier said: “The Asos story is truly impressive and I am tremendously excited to become part of it. I’m greatly looking forward to working with the team that is building a global powerhouse in online fashion.”
McBride added: “It has been a great honour and pleasure to have worked with Asos over these past six years and I wish the company continued success in being the world’s number-one destination for fashion-conscious 20-somethings.”
The fact Asos has been able to attract a chairman of Crozier’s calibre emphasises the etailer’s growth story since it was formed 18 years ago.
Last November, Asos’s market capitalisation overtook that of high street stalwart Marks & Spencer and it is now valued at £5.1bn.
Crozier’s former boss at ITV, Archie Norman, will now find himself competing with his former colleague as chairman of M&S.
