Frozen food specialists Farmfoods profits rose 30% in 2010. The retailer’s pre-tax profit for the year ending December 31 2010 leaped to £17m from £13.1m in 2009.

Sales jumped to £578.8m in 2010 against £484.1m the year previously.

The Scottish retailer has been growing south of the border and now has a strong presence in northern England and the Midlands.

Last year it released a list of 350 target towns, 50 of which were within the M25. As of October 2010, it only had six London stores and 10 in the south east.
