EBay has relaunched Shopping.com, the price comparison and affiliate site it bought in 2005 for $634m, as the eBay Commerce Network.

The eBay Commerce Network, which includes 8,000 merchants and 2,000 publishers worldwide, will allow vendors to advertise their products on eBay and other websites with one campaign.

The change in title reflects the evolution from price comparison site to commerce ad network, according to UK country manager for eBay Commerce Network David McCall.

He said: “We have been at the forefront of the rapid changes ecommerce has undergone in the last decade. As a result, our business model has completely transformed since eBay acquired Shopping.com in 2005.

“By offering some of the best tools on the market for both publishers and merchants to optimise their campaigns, eBay Commerce Network sets itself apart as one of the most robust and far-reaching commerce networks available.”

Shopping.com will continue to exist under that brand as an eBay Commerce Network publisher.
