Homewares specialist Dunelm has bought bedlinen and soft furnishings brand Dorma for £5 million.

Dunelm has bought ownership of Dorma’s brand and its global trademarks from owner Dawson International and will receive royalty fees from various overseas licensing agreements for the medium term.

Dawson International will retain the rights to run some of Dorma’s concessions in the UK until 2011, when Dunelm will gain exclusive rights to the brand.

Dunelm chief executive Will Adderley said: “The acquisition will enable us to control and develop what is an important brand to Dunelm and will further strengthen our proposition as a specialist in homewares retailing. It also provides a number of interesting growth opportunities for the medium term.”
