Electricals giant Dixons will join the Christmas tablet war this week when it launches its exclusive tie-up.
At £180, the Advent Vega Tegra Note 7, which is sold exclusively through Dixons, is more expensive than Tesco’s Hudl, which is priced at £119, and Argos’ £99 device.
Dixons is understood to have learnt from last year when it launched a £119 tablet that proved a disappointment with customers as almost half were returned, according to the Mail on Sunday.
Dixons claims the new tablet is the fastest 7-inch model on the market and says it has graphics capabilities similar to a Playstation 3 console.
The Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 will be sold in Dixons’ fascias Currys and PC World from Friday.
Meanwhile, Dixons is poised to relaunch the Pioneer brand of televisions in Europe after signing an exclusive deal.
Under the partnership, Dixons has been granted the exclusive rights to source, develop, produce and sell Pioneer TVs in selected European markets. It will start selling them in the Nordic region in December but hopes to extend to the UK soon.
