Department store group John Lewis has revealed details of its first pop-up shop that will open next month in Exeter and act as a click-and-collect “hub”.

As revealed by Retail-week.com last week, John Lewis will open the temporary 1,200 sq ft shop for six weeks prior to its mainline department store opening in Exeter on October 12.

The pop-up shop, which opens on September 3, will sell a narrow range across fashion, beauty, consumer electronics and home products.

John Lewis said the shop was designed “in line with its omnichannel strategy”. Orders placed online before 7pm can be collected from the store after 2pm the following day.

John Lewis brand and buying director Peter Ruis said: “This way of launching a new shop really engages with the local community, while at the same time goes back to the basics of retailing – finding a site, choosing an edited assortment and presenting it to customers in a creative and unique way.”
