The Burma Campaign UK called for consumers not to buy from Cotton Traders last Wednesday. On Friday, the retailer agreed to change its stance.
Cotton Traders product director Paul Hawkins said: “No new styles will be placed in Burma and as such Cotton Traders has ceased to source product from Burma.”
Burma Campaign UK campaigns officer Johnny Chatterton welcomed Cotton Traders’ decision. He warned that other retailers will be investigated because they have not disclosed whether or not they source from Burma. Those to be scrutinised include Etam, Harrods, Jane Norman and Liberty.
