TJX Companies is best known for operating the brands TJ Maxx and TK Maxx in the US and Europe respectively. But the Massachusetts-based retail giant also operates several other off-price retailers in North America, such as Marshalls, Sierra and Winners. The Maxx fascias are based on the provision of a rapidly changing, extensive assortment of discounted brand-name merchandise. This is sold through its large-format stores, although it does have several smaller inner-city locations. The wider group concept aims to create a constantly updating, vibrant shopping environment, which encourages customers to visit its stores or website frequently to hunt for bargains. The retailer was slow to launch an online store, but it now has a Maxx website across all its territories.
