SuperGroup has hired former Hugo Boss Europe and Middle East boss Hans Schmitt as its new managing director of international and wholesale, Retail Week can reveal.
Schmitt will lead SuperGroup’s rapidly expanding international arm. As of late 2012, the brand was sold in 54 countries via its franchise and licensed network and in over 100 countries via its websites.
Last month chief executive Julian Dunkerton said he planned to step up its German expansion, with a raft of new store openings this year. SuperGroup is also looking into new territories such as China and Russia.
Schmitt’s last role was in charge of Calvin Klein-owner Warnaco’s business across Europe and the Middle East and Asia, where he left in July last year.
Schmitt had spent 12 years at luxury fashion retailer Hugo Boss rising to senior vice president for EMEA. He also had a stint as UK managing director at Hugo Boss.
He joins the retailer next Monday.
