Food group runs allergy-based promotional campaign
Food retailer Midcounties Co-op has launched an in-store marketing campaign focusing on allergy free shopping. Customers who have questions or concerns about allergies and diet can pick up a free guide, visit the website or call the customer care telephone.

The campaign is running in 150 stores until February 12, with information also available after this date. Advice is being offered on concerns such as cow's milk, eggs, nuts, wheat, soyabeans, fish and shellfish, which make up about 90 per cent of all food allergies.

The information packs have been produced in conjunction with dieticians from the NHS Primary Care Trust and can be tailored depending on customers' particular food allergy or their non-allergic food hypersensitivity.

Midcounties Co-op brand manager Steve Moralee, said: 'Having spoken to our customers and members, our store managers have identified a need for allergy guidance which is clear and easy to understand with all the facts and figures you need.'

The Society is the fourth largest co-operative in the UK, with a turnover of£500 million and more than 350 outlets. The participating stores are in Oxfordshire, Swindon and Gloucestershire, West Midlands, Worcestershire and Shropshire.
