Ann Summers is the latest retailer to use augmented reality app Blippar to help bring its catalogues and in-store marketing to life with its new BlippTease campaign.

The app, which is like a more interactive version of the QR code, has been gaining credence for some time now – it’s easy to use and has a wow factor.

Smartphone users who have downloaded the app simply point it out to the world and anything which is compatible with Blippar comes to life on-screen.

The app has previously been used by fashion magazine Stylist, which produced an interactive edition for the Olympics, and Asos, which used it in its magazine to enable its readers to see different angles of the clothes modelled and buy directly off the page.

Ann Summers is taking the campaign in-store as well as in its catalogues and look books, and all imagery in its 140 shop windows will be Blippar-enabled from today.

Augmented reality holds lots of potential for a brand like Ann Summers – watching scantily clad models writhe in its sexy underwear should give husbands and boyfriends looking for a gift for their girlfriends a good reason to buy.

So the next time you happening to pass one of its branches (ahem), check it out.
