Birthdays Bury in talks over Glasgow move

Staff at Birthdays' Bury headquarters are locked in talks over a proposed move to Glasgow.

About 200 staff work at the office, but 90 of them are two weeks into a 30-day consultation with management over the proposal.

A move would combine core Birthdays functions with that of Gadgetshop - both chains are owned by tycoon Chris Gorman. Birthdays field staff and the logistics operation would remain in Bury.

Separately, Gadgetshop has been testing a Virgin Mobile stand at a small number of stores.

Further opportunistic mobile phone promotions will follow. It will also launch the RoboSapien toy this month, expected to be a bestseller.
