Typo has confirmed it will open its first UK store in Westfield Stratford in December, Retail Week can exclusively reveal.

The stationery retailer, which also sells travel accessories, crafts, lighting, cushions, gadgets and gift cards, is set to open its first UK department store outlet after recording strong online sales since it launched its UK ecommerce website earlier this year.

The retailer’s general manager Bianca Ginns told Retail Week: “We’re excited to be opening our first Typo store at Westfield Stratford in December.

“Since launching our ecommerce business in April, sales have exceeded our expectations and UK customers have been quick to adopt our quirky offering across our stationery, craft, tech and travel ranges.”

The retailer agreed terms on its upcoming Westfield store earlier this month as revealed by Retail Week, and is understood to be eyeing several more stores for further bricks-and-mortar expansion in London.

Typo was founded in 2009 and currently has over 145 stores across 10 countries including the US.

“Londoners can expect a store with a distinct Typo flavour,” said Ginns.

“Typo is unique, fun and always unexpected – a lifestyle destination that allows customers to add personality to their space.”
