Boden pre-tax profits jumped 36% to £24.3m in its year to December 31, 2012 as international sales continued to grow.

Total sales rose 8% to £265m. European revenue, excluding the UK, soared 29% and US sales increased 10%. International sales now account for 53% of total sales for Boden, which trades in 60 countries.

The retailer said trading remains challenging in the UK and that the outlook remained subdued.

Boden chief executive Julian Granville said: “The international appeal of our British designs became even more evident in 2012. We have made some good progress and these results reflect that. The start of 2013 was volatile but sales are continuing to grow.”

Boden invested in increased capacity in the both the UK and the US following major warehouse expansions.

Digital sales continued to grow, rising from 80% to 90% of all sales in 2012. Womenswear was the star performer over the year with new product “performing well”.
