US fashion retailer Abercrombie & Fitch will unveil a Casa Mexicana-style store for its Hollister brand at Westfield London next Thursday.

The opening will follow Hollister’s much-anticipated debut at Brent Cross shopping centre tomorrow. In both stores, the dark wood interior is separated into small rooms, each given mood lighting treatment.

Westfield managing director of UK and Europe Michael Gutman said that Westfield London will be between 80 and 90 per cent open in terms of number of stores on opening day, and that leasing is “well advanced” on the 96 per cent it confirmed at its half-year trading update in August.

He said: “We only have a handful of stores left to lease and are extremely pleased with the quality of retailers we have attracted. We have some of the best store formats in the world, with many of the retailers being truly innovative.”

Gutman also said the majority of shops in the luxury Village area will be open next Thursday. He added that only a handful are left to lease, although some have been held back because Westfield wanted a high-end menswear presence but the market has been “difficult”.

Gutman hoped all Westfield London stores would be open “by Christmas or thereafter”.

London design agency Raylian created the UK blueprint for Hollister’s Brent Cross store.
