Beales is an English department store chain, which currently operates 22 stores, headquartered in Bournemouth. Its original flagship was founded in 1881 by John Elmes Beale. The department store then went on to acquire numerous other department stores across the UK, including Bentalls, Robbs and Palmers. Beales is a member of Associated Independent Stores – a buying group that enables Beales to benefit from the cost savings of buying textiles and other non-food goods in bulk.
The remainder of Beales department stores are likely to shut after the retailer’s administrator said it had received no “deliverable offers” for the business.
