Zavvi had an exclusive supply agreement with EUK, which hit the buffers last week.
Yesterday Zavvi was unable to sell two of Christmas’ biggest releases, new albums from Take That and Britney Spears, but said both would be in stores today.
In a statement on its web site, Zavvi also said that to “avoid any uncertainty” it would be cancelling existing customer orders where delivery cannot be guaranteed.
“Regretfully at this time we are unable to fully guarantee the supply of DVD, music and games products to our customers.
“As our customers remain our primary concern, particularly in the run-up to Christmas, we have decided to suspend taking orders for these products while we work to resolve the situation.
“We have not taken this decision lightly, but we believe that this is the right course of action under the circumstances.”
It said payment will be refunded to those customers who have paid for products and who do not receive them.
Books, calendars and a limited range of other products can be bought as normal.
It is thought other retailers will be affected in the run up to Christmas, including WH Smith, Asda and Morrison, which all receive products from EUK.
