Entertainment retailer Zavvi is understood to be confident it can maintain levels of stock in the run-up to Christmas, despite the collapse of Woolworths subsidiary EUK, which supplied it with almost all its product.

Sources said Zavvi was confident it has sufficient back catalogue stock in its stores to meet demand, while on new releases where it is expecting heavy demand - such as Take That's album that is released next week - it is dealing directly with the labels and publishers.

Nintendo Wii shortages are expected to affect all retailers, but the retailer believes it is well stocked with other game consoles.

Zavvi declined to comment except to say: “We are talking to the administrators and hope to know more [soon].”
