Virgin Megastores’ iconic fascia is set to disappear from the UK high street as Zavvi starts its rebranding of the 125-strong chain. The first store to switch to the Zavvi fascia was unveiled last week at the Brunswick Centre in Bloomsbury.

The retailer has so far rebranded 10 stores to Zavvi, with 34 planned this week, including the Oxford Street shop. The retailer expects to complete the conversions by November 12. A Zavvi spokesman said: “So far, it has all gone smoothly.”

Last month, Virgin Megastores was sold as part of a management buy-out led by managing director Simon Douglas and finance director Steve Peckham. The buy-out team, Zavvi Entertainment, said rebranding the stores and web site to Zavvi was part of the agreement with Sir Richard Branson.
