Woolworths eyes future as Hall replaces Lewis

Woolworths commercial director Ken Lewis has retired after 18 years with the retailer and has been replaced by Jo Hall.

Hall has been at Woolworths for two years and is promoted from the position of head of strategic business units for toys, stationery and events.

Chief executive Trevor Bish-Jones said: 'I am delighted that we have been able to make this appointment internally, which acknowledges Jo's achievements.'

Separately, Woolworths has signed a deal with London radio station Capital Radio to sponsor its chart show, taking over from Pepsi in a deal understood to be worth£3 million.

The retailer is also reviewing its advertising strategy.

The television ads starring comedian Paul Kaye have been dropped.
