The Rosebys brand name is to be abandoned by Edinburgh Woollen Mill, which this month bought 77 of the outlets out of administration.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill, which also bought all of Rosebys’ stock as part of the deal, said that in the next 12 months it will amalgamate the Rosebys brand into its Ponden Mill business, which also sells value homewares. There are about 40 Ponden Mill stores at present.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill marketing director David Reed said: “The two brands are an excellent fit. The acquisition will give us more buying power and more coverage of the UK.”

Rosebys hit the buffers in September. A total of 201 stores were closed and 1,256 jobs were lost.
