Former Threshers boss to help separate the wheat from the chaff at garden centre chain
Wyevale Garden Centres has appointed David Williams as non-executive chairman. He will take up the position on March 1 for an initial three-year term, and replaces Brian Evans, who retired from the board on December 31 after 31 years at the retailer. Wyevale non-executive director Brent Wilkinson will hold the position until Williams takes up the post.

Williams was most recently chief executive of Thresher Group (formerly First Quench) and is also a non-executive director of Mothercare, among other mostly leisure industry-related commitments.

Wyevale chief executive Robert Hewitt said: 'David's track record in developing consumer retail brands in many markets will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective and valuable knowledge to complement the existing strengths of Wyevale's management team.'
