Pets at Home chairman has 12 years of retail experience
WHSmith has appointed Luke Mayhew as a non-executive director with immediate effect. Mayhew was managing director of John Lewis until December last year and was development director for eight years before that. More recently, he has been drafted in as chairman of Pets at Home, as Retail Week reported last Friday.

Mayhew also has 12 years of experience at businesses including Thomas Cook, BA and PR firm Shandwick.

WHSmith chairman Robert Walker said: 'We are delighted to welcome Luke Mayhew to the board. With his extensive retail and services experience, he will be a great asset to the company as we implement our turnaround plans.'
