Retail Week’s Bizarre Press Release of the Week award goes to Tesco.

The grocer’s US fascia Fresh & Easy invited us to “swap ground beef bought from other retailers at its Pink Slime Swap Meat”.

It all sounds a bit Ghostbusters to us. However, the purpose of the marketing is to promote Fresh & Easy’s refusal to use ammonia-treated filler known as pink slime in its ground beef.

And if you’ve got a pink slime problem, who you gonna call…? The deputy chief executive of the global giant, that’s who. Yes, Tim Mason is apparently ready to take our ground beef queries, with his email address included in the release.
