Stores on Oxford Street and Regent Street are trading as normal this morning despite rioting last night by student protesters.

There was damage to the Topshop Oxford Circus flagship after a group broke away from the main protests in Westminster. It is understood every window in the store was smashed. Its owner Sir Philip Green has been the focus of protests by critics of his tax status.

There was no significant damage to other retailers according to a spokesman for the New West End Company. In Regent Street a car carrying the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall was attacked by protesters, but as the trouble was late in the evening, stores had generally closed already.

All stores, including Topshop, are understood to be open as normal this morning.
