The Swedish furniture giant has developed the store model as the first initiative in its revised UK strategy and, the retailer said, “is part of a global approach to bring Ikea into the heart of urban areas as it responds to the continued growth of city living and changing consumer lifestyles”.

The Planning Studio specialises in kitchens and bedroom storage advice and inspiration. Shoppers can walk in or book appointments online.

Ikea’s city development manager, Janie Bisset, said: “Our new city centre approach brings Ikea into the heart of London and is designed to complement our larger stores and digital offering, so customers have a wide range of choices that suit their needs and lifestyles.”

Ikea is exploring other suitable locations in London for a similar format.
