Gerrards Cross development costs increased
The collapse of the train tunnel at Gerrards Cross could cost Tesco an extra£20 million to repair.

According to press reports, the damage, which is still disrupting rail traffic between London and Birmingham, could double the bill the retailer will eventually have to pay to build its store in the town.

The development, which includes the tunnel to support the store, will have 20,000 sq ft (1,860 sq m) of selling space and has come under fire from town residents, many of whom say Tesco failed to consult them on the matter.

The tunnel collapsed on July 1 without any casualties.
