The TUC has refused to back down to lobbying from pressure groups to stop Primark's parent company Associated British Foods using its headquarters for its AGM

Lobby groups led by Labour Behind the Label plan to protest over factory conditions outside the AGM, which is due to be held at Congress House in London's Bloomsbury next Friday.

But the TUC has said that it has no intention to cancel ABF's booking.

"ABF is a unionised company with good relations with UK unions," the TUC said in a statement. "As with the great majority of campaigners, we believe in constructive engagement with companies."

The statement continued: "We welcome ABF's membership of the Ethical Trading Initiative and will use that opportunity to press any concerns that we have about Primark's supply chain."

Labour Behind the Label claimed it has won a victory when Primark pulled out of a conference on crisis management PR on Monday, after the pressure group threatened to protest at the event.
