Topshop is poised to enter China with its first store opening there early next year.

It has been reported that the fashion retailer has signed a deal for space in the Shanghai Super Brand Mall, which is in the financial district of the city.

Zara and H&M have shops in the centre, with Zara’s owners Inditex expected to open 15 stores in China next year.

Topshop, the fashion chain owned by Sir Philip Green, is also set to open a flagship store in New York and is in talks with property developers in Hong Kong to launch a Topshop in the city in 2008.

China has a US$1 trillion (£484.63 billion) retail market that is expected to grow about 15 per cent this year.
