Topshop has signed a lease on a store in Chicago to open its second US standalone.

The Arcadia-owned young fashion chain signed a ten-year lease with the US arm of Grosvenor Estates, Grosvenor Americas, on a 49,000 sq ft store at 830 North Michegan Avenue which is currently a Borders store.

Arcadia aims to dedicate between 30,000 to 35,000 sq ft to retail space, arranged over three floors. The womenswear chain Topshop will occupy the basement and ground floor whilst menswear chain Topman will trade from the first floor.

The Chicago store will be Topshop’s second wholly-owned flagship outside the UK. It follows a 24,000 sq ft store in Manhattan, New York, which opened in April last year.
