Struggling off licence operator Thresher Group has hired Patrick Copeland as non-executive chairman.

Previously, Copeland has been an executive at companies including hotel chains Forte and InterContinental Hotels, as well as Minit. His career spans developing and turning around companies, as well as numerous acquisition and divestiture projects.

Last month, Yvonne Rankin joined Thresher as chief executive, following the departure of former boss Roger Whiteside. Between July 2005 and July 2007, Yvonne Rankin was with international retailer A S Watson as chief executive of the central and southern European division, where she was responsible for its European portfolio of 600 stores.
