£130 million deal for giant town centre retail fund
The Mall, the specialist town centre retail fund managed by Capital & Regional, has bought the Main Square shopping centre at Camberley in Surrey for more than£130 million. The property was acquired from Prudential-owned firm Scottish Amicable Life Assurance Society, which is taking shares in The Mall fund as part payment.

Main Square comprises 360,000 sq ft (33,445 sq m) of space on one level. Among the 100 or more tenants are Army & Navy, Boots, Next, Virgin, Sainsbury's and Monsoon. The centre also has more than 1,000 parking spaces.

The deal takes The Mall's portfolio to£2.25 billion across 22 malls, with more than 7.4 million sq ft (687,460 sq m) of retail floor space. More than 4.76 million shoppers visit its centres every week.

The Mall chief executive Ken Ford said: 'Main Square complements our growing portfolio and brand of community shopping centres across the UK.'
