The Glasshouse is on the way up in Nottingham

JSR Properties has started construction of The Glasshouse, a£35 million mixed-use scheme on Huntingdon Street in Nottingham city centre.

On completion next autumn, The Glasshouse will provide 70,000 sq ft (6,505 sq m) of open A1 food and non-food retail space, as well as a 250-space car park and 600 student/key worker apartments, which have already been pre-sold to Derwant Housing Association.

The site - formerly occupied by a car showroom - is directly opposite the Victoria Shopping Centre and next to Hopewell's designer furniture store.

Retail units will range in size from 15,000 sq ft (1,395 sq m) to 70,000 sq ft (6,505 sq m). Quoted rents are£20 per sq ft (£215 per sq m) for ground-floor retail space and£10 per sq ft (£108 per sq m) on the first floor.

Capital Retail and Fisher Hargreaves Proctor is advising the developer.
