Tesco has vaulted into the number three position in the menswear market, according to TNS worldpanel.

The grocer’s menswear division now has 7 per cent of the£9.8 billion UK men’s clothing market, according to TNS’ latest figures, compared with 5.7 per cent this time last year.
It reports that Tesco now sells more jeans than any other retailer.

Tesco non-food director Terry Green, who joined the grocer in October 2005, has enhanced its F&F, Cherokee, Stone Bay Rhode Island and Collection clothing offer at affordable prices.

Green said: “Our customers are driving this success. They are excited by our offer which places great emphasis on consistent quality and design with upscale design input.”
