Tesco is to start selling cut-price Viagra from next Monday, in 300 of its in store pharmacists.

Customers must have their blood pressure checked as well as having a diabetes scan and cholesterol test in order to be able to purchase the pills.

The grocer is promising to sell Viagra cheaper than Boots, the only other retailer to sell over-the-counter. Tesco will sell eight tablets for £52. Boots sells four for £55.

Tesco commercial manager for pharmacy services Shona Scott told The Times: “The service is available to men aged between 40 and 65. They will have to complete a questionnaire and we will then carry out a blood pressure test, diabetes screen and cholesterol test.”

She pointed out that the pills would only be available from the pharmacy.
