Prices start at £1.47
Supermarket chain Tesco is to become the first UK supermarket to sell horse riding equipment. The new equestrian range will be available in 150 stores from Thursday.

The collection will include jodhpurs, boots, riding hats, waistcoats and gloves. Associated gifts, such as brushes, collars and summer rugs, will also be available, with prices starting from£1.47.

Tesco senior buying manager for sports Mike Arnott said: 'We have worked very closely with the very best suppliers to bring the highest quality products to our customers at prices they expect from Tesco - prices that end the notion that horse riding is an unaffordable sport for the elite.'

The latest statistics from the British Equestrian Trade Association show that the number of people who participate in horse riding has almost doubled since 1999, from 2.4 million to 4.3 million.
