Tesco to open store at bank's HQ

Tesco is to set up shop inside the new Royal Bank of Scotland headquarters at Gogarburn in Edinburgh. The retailer has signed a deal to open a Tesco Express at the£350 million global HQ on the outskirts of the city. The bank's employees are expected to move into the site this July.

A Royal Bank of Scotland spokesman said: 'Gogarburn will provide an outstanding working environment, including retail, fitness, leisure and nursery facilities - catering for the needs of the 3,250 staff who will be working there.' Starbucks is also understood to be in negotiations with the bank to open at the site.

Royal Bank of Scotland already has a strong relationship with Tesco, including a partnership with the retailer to offer banking services at the retailer's stores. The spokesman said: 'We already have an outstanding partnership with Tesco and we look forward to welcoming them to Gogarburn.'
