The streamlining of its supplier management processes has been made possible using a system developed by RollStream, an American company that provides partner-management software.
In addition, RollStream is enabling Tesco to establish important controls and maintain the optimum number of suppliers, as well as providing complete visibility of the progress of individual and collective requests for new suppliers.
Tesco partnered with RollStream in January 2007 originally to accelerate the implementation of Oracle 11i financial back-office systems for not-for-resale goods and services.
RollStream was able to help the retailer achieve its intended go-live date for the project across a community of more than 4,700 suppliers and their multiple site locations.
Following success in building an organised and aligned community of suppliers on the RollStream platform, Tesco set its sights on streamlining its overall supplier management, specifically reducing the cost and time taken to set up and “on-board” its new suppliers.
“RollStream’s process management solution has become a business-critical application for Tesco,” said Tesco Corporate Purchasing commercial manager Stuart Blackery. “Ninety days after go-live we are seeing solid results, good feedback and a positive impact to timelines.”
“Extending our RollStream platform into this area was a logical next step; the alternative solutions were costly and too risky from a time-to-implement standpoint,” added Blackery.
