Tesco has added prescription glasses to its Sale as it seeks to drive shoppers through its doors in the key Christmas trading period.

The grocer has slashed the cost of prescription glasses by 25 per cent starting this week until Tuesday January 20. The 25 per cent discount is off the total price of all glasses, including all lenses, and all lens options and treatments.

Tesco optical commercial operations manager Philip Banks said: “We want to help customers make their money go further. Now people who may have been putting off buying a pair of spectacles and concentrating on other costs this Christmas will be able to focus on themselves.”

Tesco last week launched a Sale on more than 1,000 products including Christmas food, drink, toys and gifts, offering up to 50 per cent off. It mirrors the Sale frenzy on the high street from retailers such as Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and House of Fraser.
