Tesco has dealt another blow to the beleaguered sports retailers JJB and Sports Direct by launching a football shirt offer online.

Tescofootballshirts.com, which can also be linked to through the supermarket’s Tesco Direct site, has been set up in partnership with merchandise specialists Subside Sports.

Sports retailers were hit hard when they lost out on England shirt sales after the England team failed to qualify for Euro 2008.

Meanwhile JJB’s share price has plummeted to below 6p after Goldman Sachs predicted that losses for the sports retailer would double from its previous estimates to£13.2 million in the year to January 30 2010.

Last week JJB said that its like-for-like sales were down 7.5 per cent in the period form July 28 and December 7.
