Grocer to rival international chains
Tesco has opened its first eponymous supermarket in Beijing to compete with established international chains such as Wal-Mart and Carrefour.

The supermarket chain has a stake in 46 Chinese stores already, under Chinese fascia Le Gou, which means happy shopper.

According to analysts, the challenge for Tesco will be stocking products that appeal to the Chinese consumer and understanding local tastes.
