July bombs derail sale talks
The July terrorist attacks in London have dented Whittard of Chelsea's performance for the 12 weeks of its financial year so far.

The repercussions may even last until the end of the year. Whittard said sales for the period were below expectations as a result. The attacks also dampened talks with interested parties overseas over a possible buy-out. However, the retailer said the initial disclosure of talks has prompted other parties to express their interest.

Whittard said: 'Trading in the company's central London and tourist stores has been materially affected since the July attacks and the board now believes this situation is likely to continue for some time, and may even adversely affect sales during the important Christmas period.'

The retailer added that like-for-like sales at its high street and mall stores across the UK were ahead of last year, albeit at lower margins.
