Hark Retail and Apollo Real Estate Advisors have unveiled ambitious plans for the development of Telford town centre.

The masterplan, designed by architect Benoy, will create a hub for the town centre. Called The Round, it will offer additional retail, leisure and restaurants clustered around new squares. An office development and homes with town centre connections will also be created. Proposals will be submitted next year.

The first step will be to extend the existing Primark store, tripling its size and creating another entrance. The council is expected to give the plans the go-ahead later this month and construction will start early next year.

Hark director Rob Cossey said: “When we bought Telford shopping centre, we saw it as a sleeping giant with huge potential. We have 52 acres, only half of which is built upon, at the core of the town.”

Letting agents on the scheme are DTZ and Strutt & Parker.
