Ted Baker has delivered sales growth of 12.5 per cent for its retail division in the period from November 1 to December 24.

Gross margin remained in line with management expectations and the retailer said it had started the new season with a clean stock position.

During the period, average retail square footage increased 8.4 per cent to 164,545 sq ft (15,285 sq m) with stores opening in Brighton and at the Aventura Mall, in Florida. A further store opened in Jakarta, Indonesia, through licensee RSH, bringing the total number of Ted Baker licensed stores to 17 in the Middle East and Asia.

Sales rose 14 per cent in the retailer’s second half, from August 12 to December 24, compared with the same period last year. This was a 7.2 per cent increase in average retail square footage.

Ted Baker chief executive and founder Ray Kelvin said: “We are pleased to report that the brand’s performance has once again been strong and trading across the group has been in line with our expectations. We look forward to a successful outcome in the full year.”
