Good start to New Year
Fashion chain Ted Baker has revealed a rise in sales and reported that margins over the Christmas period were in line with the levels achieved last year.

It unveiled a 10.7 per cent rise in sales at its retail division between November 1 and December 24 compared with the same period the year before.

The company, which has about 100 stores in the UK, the US and France, said it is poised to start the new season with a clean stock position.

Ted Baker chief executive Ray Kelvin said: 'We are pleased to report strong sales both in the UK and overseas, despite a tough retail environment. We remain committed to the international development of the Ted Baker brand and are confident of a successful outcome for the year.'

Evolution analyst Nick Bubb added that the group 'never give too much away and certainly don't like giving like-for-like sales figures. But Ted Baker's Xmas update today confirms that the business has continued to buck the UK high street trend.'
