Licensing deals pave way for more stores
Fashion brand Ted Baker has signed its second Asian territorial licence and a Middle Eastern licence.

The designer brand said the licences with RSH, a company listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, would cover retail distribution of the Ted Baker brand in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Lebanon.

The agreements with RSH are subject to minimum guarantees and store opening targets. The licences will run for six years to December 31, 2011, with a possible renewal for a further five years subject to specific performance criteria.

Ted Baker chief executive Ray Kelvin said: 'Although the financial impact of the agreements will not be material in the short term, this represents yet another step in our long-term strategy to develop Ted Baker as a global brand.'

With US expansion 'progressing well' and a move into Asia confirmed the Australian market could be next for Ted Baker. Kelvin said: 'We may be opening a shop in Sydney or Melbourne next year if we find the right property.'
