Zalando has opened its first technology hub outside Germany with the aim of creating 200 jobs over the next three years.

The etailer’s Fashion Insights Centre in Dublin will play a key role in its strategy to build the best online platform for fashion brands across Europe and the rest of the world.

Zalando will be seeking to fill roles in research and development, big data analytics, data science and engineering.

Robert Gentz, Zalando founder and member of its management board, said, “Zalando is the most trafficked ecommerce fashion site in Europe with well over 100 million visits per month. Understanding our customers and gaining deep insights into their purchasing patterns and their behaviour online means we can provide them with a highly personalised and compelling offering.”

“Investing to understand these insights has driven our growth since the earliest days of our company and has been the key to our success. The new Zalando Fashion Insights Centre will play a major role as we continue to lead online fashion and grow our presence across Europe.”

This is not the first time the etailer is using innovative technologies to further its business. Towards the end of last year, Zalando hosted its third annual Hack Week event throughout Germany to encourage its technology team to pause their normal work and develop new concepts and prototypes.

The event bought together over 700 tech designers, product developers and testers to try new ideas and gain extra training in development techniques.
