Walmart rules out personalised pricing as AI reshapes retail

Walmart’s CEO pledged Monday not to use shoppers’ personal data to set prices, as scrutiny of AI-driven pricing grows in Washington.

In an open letter to customers on Friday, chief executive John Furner said the largest US retailer would not use shoppers’ income, shopping history or urgency to charge them more, whether in its stores or through Sparky, its AI shopping assistant. He also promised that Sparky would not hide cheaper options.
