Sociomantic Labs is an automated advertising start-up that combines a retailer’s existing data and promoted offers to create personalised and profitable adverts. Head of UK consumer insights Owen Hewitson explains more.

Key facts

Founded: 2009

Investment: Acquired by Dunhumby in 2014

Retail partners: Tesco and All Saints

Founders: Thomas Nicolai, Lars Kirchhoff & Thomas Brandhoff

What it does

Sociomantic Labs provides automated and personalised marketing offers for online, mobile web and in-app retail advertising.

The automated ad generator combines retailer’s existing data on returning shoppers with a product priority score to offer items that will be of interest to shoppers while maximising profit for retailers. Products which have been overstocked or have high margins are prioritised, as well as seasonal offers and promotions.

“Sociomantic Lab’s proprietary streaming CRM technology enables retailers to use existing data to deliver individually personalised, dynamic ads for the full customer journey,” says Hewitson.

What problems it solves

Sociomantic Lab’s offer combines the ease of automated advertising with a retailer’s existing data to create advertisements that are relevant for shoppers while growing revenue. The start-up’s technology works across mobile, desktop and tablet devices to ensure comprehensive and personalised advertising across all online shopping channels.

“Sociomantic offers retailers the ability to reach their audiences in a way that is personalised, addressable, and scalable,” says Hewitson.

“Using a retailer’s first-party data we can make sure the loyalty and lifetime value of their customers is maximised as well as driving new customer acquisition and awareness.”
